Adlai E. Stevenson High School (AESHS), commonly called Stevenson High School, is a four-year public high school located in Lincolnshire, Illinois. AESHS is a large suburban school with a minority enrollment of 37 percent. Only five percent of students qualify for free lunch.
Students engage in a traditional curriculum of core subjects for graduation requirements of 22 credits. Students must also complete a Senior Project which demonstrates a senior’s ability to write, speak, apply knowledge, problem solve, and use the skills of time management, organization, and risk taking. 95 percent of students graduate from SHS.
In addition, 27 Advanced Placement courses are available. It is reported that 80 percent of students take AP courses and that 90 percent of those taking the exam receive a passing score.
College credits are possible through the College Credit Plus program, a statewide program aimed to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students.
The Career Exploration Program provides opportunities such as professional career presentations, career and job shadowing, a career expo held every other year at the campus, a summer job fair, internships, career exploration summer school courses, general career advice and guidance, and email mentorship.
The Fine Arts Division at AESHS includes the departments of music, dance, Odyssey theater and visual arts. Some colleges, universities, and professional organizations recognize the school’s Fine Arts Division as one of the most exemplary high school arts programs in the nation.
Adlai E. Stevenson High School has received multiple Blue Ribbon Awards from the U.S. Department of Education.
